City bans animal tethering

On Sept. 23, 2020, the City Commission adopted an ordinance prohibiting the tethering of dogs or cats to stationary objects except when specific conditions are met. The penalty includes a maximum fine of $500.

Tethering animals unsafely can cause injury, increased aggressiveness, exposure to disease-carrying insects or even death.
