Tips for Handling Common Storm Situations

Last night’s storm passed rapidly, but it made itself known. Thank you to our public safety, parks, and public works staff, who reacted quickly to ensure our roadways are clear and safe.

As we look ahead to more storms in the fall season, here are some tips for handling common storm situations:

To report storm debris or fallen tree limbs, use our Public Works reporting system.

This reporting tool can be used for other issues, too. Have drainage concerns? See a pothole? Need to replace a trash or recycling cart? Notice a traffic light issue? Please use the Reporting System to report it.

If storm debris or fallen limbs/trees are blocking the roadway, call the Police Department non-emergency line at (123)456-7890; however, if there is an emergency, dial 911.

If you experience a power outage or see a downed power line, you may report it to Central Maine Power at 1-800-111-2222 or online.

You can also use the above link to check the status of CMP’s repairs.

Finally, keep your eyes on the forecast and prepare for storms by charging any devices you may need to communicate should you experience a power outage.
